The Buzzies nominations are in and Wingspan is thrilled that its new documentary The Battle To Breathe has been nominated in the Best Science category.
The Buzzies are awarded by WCSFP (the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers) to celebrate global excellence in science and factual storytelling and will be awarded at Congress '26 in mid-November. The host city this year is Tallinn in Estonia.
The Buzzies recognize short-form, long-form and multiplatform science, history and natural history projects, as well as awarding projects for innovation and impact.
The Best Science category recognises ‘outstanding science documentary from any platform that brings scientific ideas, discoveries, and research to life through compelling storytelling, originality, and exceptional factual filmmaking.’
Wingspan’s ‘The Battle to Breathe’ is nominated alongside ‘Evolution’ from BBCS Studios, AI: Probably Nothing to Worry About’ from 72 Films, ‘Father Time, Why Men are Born to Nurture’ from Tangerine Productions and Ouragan Films for ARTE France, ‘Ages of Ice: The Frozen Heart’ from Northern Pictures for PBS and ABC and ‘Cracking the Code: Phil Sharp and the Biotech Revolution’ from Uncommon Productions for PBS Independent Lens. Congratulations to the other nominees!
The Battle To Breathe is produced by WINGSPAN PRODUCTIONS and HHMI TANGLED BANK STUDIOS in association with NOVA/GBH and premiered on PBS in September 2026. TVF International are the distributors outside USA and UK.
